Police Sport UK Athletics Section - Race Walk Championships 2022

The 2024 event will take place at Evesham Velo Park, Cycle Circuit. Worcs, WR11 2LZ. on Wednesday 18 September 2024 starting at 1.30pm. The event will be combined with the Civil Service Race Walk Championships.

This is a brand new venue, with the previous one from Tally Ho, Canon Hill Park being no longer available.

Course and Venue

The Velo Park is situated in the grounds complex of Evesham United Football Club.The Velo Park Cycle circuit is completely an enclosed circuit within the complex and has it's own building which has changing rooms and a cafe.

The circuit is just under 1km in length and thus the 10km (Men) would be the distance plus 10 laps and the 5km (Women) would be the distance plus 5 laps.

We have visited and inspected the facilities which are very good. The cycle circuit although has some bends the surface is smooth and in good condition with no potholes.

Negotiations with the cafe proprietors have agreed to provide a post race buffet.

The Velo Park is easily accessible by road on the outskirts of Evesham Town. It is 1.8 miles from Evesham Rail Station which is served by GWR line from London Paddington at 1 train per hour destination Worcester/Gt Malvern/Hereford.

Arrangement can be made to pick up from Evesham Station should anyone needed as there is no direct but route to Velo Park from the station.

We hope those who have supported this fixture in previous years will be able to attend. Anyone travelling from the North would avoid driving through Birmingham but skirt round from the M6 and onto the M5 and to leave at the junction 6 for Evesham.

Course Marking and Race walk Judges

The course is marked and race walk officials will be officiating on the course.

Post race Presentation and Refreshments

A post race gathering will take place in the Tally Ho Club after the race. Refreshments are included in the entry fee and prizes will be presented in the various catagories contested.
