Monday 5 May 2014 The
2014 Police Sport UK Marathon Championships will take place in Milton
Keynes. This will be a qualification event for the USPE Marathon event
to be held in Austria October 2014. This
is a 26.2 mile city marathon with a difference. With 4,500 acres of
woodlands, lakesides, parks and landscaped areas within the city
boundary, Milton Keynes is the ideal venue for a Green Marathon. The
course is traffic free on closed roads and cycle paths or “redways” as
they are known locally, the course is gently undulating with no
significant incline providing real PB potential.
The
organisers offer a ‘Big Marathon’ experience with lots of entertainment
en route to help motivate you and to attract crowds of spectators to
cheer you on. On the event day, you will receive a premium event
experience.

hope all your training has gone to plan and that you are fully fit
ready to embark in this years PSUK Marathon Championships. This is the
first time we have used this new course at Milton Keynes and therefore
we hope this will inspire you to produce good times and hopefully a PB
for those that are chasing one. We
appreciate that this is an unusual time of the year for us to host the
championships but this is due to this year being a USPE qualifying
year. Therefore numbers are slightly down on previous years with a
total of 57 runners. I have kept the entry open as long as possible
hence why the delay in these final details. Consequently
to ensure that the rewards won are felt as worthy, we have adapted the
prizes to reflect the numbers and categories of entries and will be
awarded as below: 1st Male, 2nd Male and 3rd Male 1st Female, 2nd Female and 3rd Female 1st MV 40-49, 2nd MV 40-49 and 3rd MV 40-49 1st Team [Mixed team of 3] 2nd Team [Mixed team of 3] 3rd Team [ Mixed team of 3] One athlete can only win one prize. E.G If an over 40 male is the 1st place overall he is not eligible for the 1st Male Vet 40. The
first 2 male and female athletes will qualify for the USPE Marathon
Championships later this year in Austria between 10th-12th of October
providing they achieve the qualifying times. A reminder of the

performance in qualifying period, providing qualifying time achieved. 4.
PSUK hope to select SIX male athletes for the USPE Marathon but this

selection will be made after the 31/5/14. Any athlete wishing to be
considered for selection is asked to contact Sally or I so we can note
your interest and qualifying time. Registration
and collection of your race packs will be at the below Hotel between
1900hrs-2200hrs on the 4/5/14 or 0800hrs-0900hrs on 5/5/14. This is
right next to the stadium and start. NOTE: Same post code as race venue. Double
Tree Hilton Hotel, Milton Keynes, Stadium Way West, MK1 1ST. [
Reception or bar area - Look for Sally Broome or Me in a PSUK top] Attached is the race guide and final details from the organiser which gives you all the details and information you require. If you have any problems opening the attached links please let me know. Athletes
will inevitably finish at different times so I have arranged, hopefully
a suitable time of 1500hrs for the post race refreshments and
presentation. The venue is only 3.1 miles from the Stadium. The
postcode is MK9 2DS. There is plenty of parking outside, on a pay and
display basis. I believe it's about 40p per hour. There are showers on the floor above the bar. This
is a Police sports club so your warrant card may be handy. Entry is via
a fob key which I hope to obtain and allow access for everyone. As I
haven't visited the venue I am unsure of the layout myself but I am
sure we can use common sense and get in. Sally or I will hopefully be
there before you to sort things out. I
have arranged some good carbo reloading food of pasta etc and followed
by some chocolate sponge with custard. I hope a variety of dishes will
meet everyone's needs. There will be a vegetarian and vegan option. The bar will also be open to buy soft or alcoholic drinks whichever takes your fancy. The presentation will follow once you have eaten. I
have asked the organiser for a link to the course/race photographer so
you can make contact personally if you so wish. I do not have these
details yet but hope to circulate them once obtained or let you have
them after the race. Finally I wish you all the best of luck and look forward to seeing you all in Milton Keynes.
