This was an excellent event that attracted many compliments which are well deserved by the
organiser, planner and controller, Dudley Budden and Trevor Griffiths, retired officers from Avon &
Somerset. It was very encouraging to have some new runners taking part
Karl Webster, Derbyshire, retained the Open title with a strong run, only pulling away on time from
Richard Vasey, PSNI who had a 3min 29 second lead until the 6th leg which was over a kilometre
where Karl’s extra fitness prevailed and he established an overall lead which he held.
Christine Howard, Derbyshire retained the Women’s Open title establishing an early lead which was
not challenged.
Mick Gallagher, PSNI was strongly challenged on the Veteran Men’s course by colleague, Des
Fletcher until over half way round the course when Mick gradually edged away to win.
PSNI retained the Mixed Team trophy.
The event also incorporates a Police, Army, RAF challenge. For the first time in many years the Police
were the winners.
Tony Melville, Gloucestershire, Chief Constable presented the prizes.
