British Police Fell Race
Championships 2016
North Yorkshire The 2016 event was hosted by Cleveland Police on Wednesday 18 May 2016 starting at 1pm. The route was around 11 miles with over 1500 feet of ascent over the North Yorkshire Moors . The start was from Osmotherley Youth Hostel, Osmotherley, North Yorkshire.
There were a total of 63 entries with 57 actually running on the day. The event was blessed with good weather with everyone finishing the event with the exception of one runner from Cumbria who dropped out with injury.
Food and drink was provided at Osmotherley Youth hostel post race and a presentation of medals took place at 4pm.
Cumbria Police turned out a fine team of runners with Durham and Cheshire placed 2nd and 3rd.

Race Course
Race Venue, Race Registration and Presentation Venue
Registration will take place at Osmotherley Youth Hostel.
As
usual, there is no official accommodation provided. Competitors are
asked to make their own arrangements. There will be rooms available at
the Youth Hostel. Bed and Breakfast and hotel accommodation can also be
found in the area.

There are showers, changing rooms and toilets provided at the hostel.

Description
Briefly, the race starts and finishes at the Osmotherley Youth
Hostel. The course is circa 10.7 miles over the North Yorkshire Moors lying to
the east of Osmotherley. The terrain is over scenic and challenging moorland
tracks and paths with around 1500 ft of ascent. The course will be flagged
throughout though runners still need to be able to read a map and have
navigation experience. Mapping
Printed A4 maps of
the course will be provided. However, you still need to be able to navigate
and this should not deter any competitor from taking such equipment as
necessary to stay safe on the fells.
Compulsory Kit Requirement
Competitors will
need to carry the following equipment:- 1. Windproof top
body cover
Each competitor should have navigational skills and be able to use a map and compass if required. Random kit checks will be carried out so please ensure you carry the required kit for the conditions. Any kit found missing will incur a time penalty.
Entry Field
The Championships
has attracted 61 runners from 18 UK police forces. EOD is still an option if you would like to run!
Registration and Pre-Race Briefing
At the hostel - a briefing will take place five minuted before the start.
Post Race Meal and Presentation of Trophies
A hot meal will be provided at the Youth Hostel. This will be followed by a formal presentation of trophies and prizes at approximately 3.30pm.

British Police Fell Race Entry
The entry fee will
be £12.00. This fee covers the cost of the presentation buffet and the

2016 Event Entry Form - Word Document Qualification
Competitors must
be fully paid members of their respective force sports clubs and be a police
officer, police staff, retired police/police staff (in receipt of a police
pension) or member of the special constabulary/police volunteers.
Guests are permitted on special request.
Pre-Race Recognisance
There are no objections to teams or individuals reconnoitering the course. Adrian Martin will be doing a recce on 11 May at 2pm. Anyone interested should contact Adrian: Email: Adrian Martin
Closing Date
The closing date is flexible - Entry can be made on day - please email me to confirm. There are no entry fee refunds but name substitutions to pre-paid entries will be allowed on the day. Entry Confirmation
All competitors will receive a confirmation of their entry and any late briefing information by email. If you are submitting block team entries then please ensure you include individual email on each entry form.
