10 Mile Road Race 2026

Essex - Wednesday 9 September 2026

Essex Crest

Pleshey, Chelmsford, Essex, CM3 1HE

Essex Police Sports Association (EPSA) Running Section look forward to welcoming you to the 2026 Police Sport UK 10-mile Road Race Championship. The race will take place in the heart of the Essex countryside within the historic village of Pleshey, famous for The Leather Bottle Pub, renovated and owned by Keith Flint, the Prodigy lead singer, who ran the pub until 2017.

THE RACE - It will start and finish within the sports field to Pleshey Village Hall, with good access from the M11, A12, A120, A414 or A130.  The race route is mainly on quiet country lanes with a couple of small inclines; this is Essex so nothing too challenging!  This is an England Athletics Certified Event - Event Licence Number #30791.

Under English Athletics (EA) rules, in-ear and over-ear headphones are prohibited in road races on single carriageway roads open to traffic, but bone conduction headphones are permitted because they do not block the ears. Anyone seen wearing prohibited headphones, will be disqualified.

RACE COST/ENTRY- Race entry will be £20 per person; individuals will need to enter via the following link – https://www.atwevents.co.uk/e/psuk-10-mile-road-race-championships-2026-15166

The £20 entry fee will have to be paid in advance.

REGISTRATION AND RACE DETAILS - The race will start at 13:00.  Collection of race numbers are to be collected by the Section/Team Captain on the day between 10:30 – 12:30.

The race is chipped timed and has been officially measured by an AUKCM Grade 1 course measurer. The route will NOT be closed to vehicles, and we will NOT have exclusive access whilst out on the public paths and the country roads.  We would ask all runners to show consideration to others whilst out on the route and follow the Highway Code, running on the righthand side of the roads.

COURSE/ROUTE - The course will start on the sports field to the hall and then exit to the right onto a public path (although if used safely, runners can use the road). Once the path finishes, runners will be running on country lanes, and we ask that you use in accordance with the Highway Code.  There will be two loops of approximately 2.5 miles each before you return up the hill, pass the Leather Bottle Pub, where there will be a water station (approximately mile 5), continue pass the village hall and continue on the country lane for another 2.5 miles approximately, where  there will be a ‘U’ turn where runners will return on themselves; turning right back into the village hall, to the finish.

PARKING – Is FREE and situated at the Pleshey Village Hall, The Street, Pleshey, CM3 1HE.

TOILETS - There are toilets in the village hall.  There are no changing areas specifically.

BAGGAGE DROP – We have full access to the village hall, so bags/belongings can be left in the hall, at owners’ risk.

FIRST AID - There will be first aid provisions available on the day.

PHOTOGRAPHY - We hope to have a photographer around the route.
