Course
The course will consist of two full laps for the ladies
and men of about 6¼ miles. The course consists of flat playing fields, hard
core trails (fast) and then two testing hills, including grass ski slope,
making it a testing course, suitable for trail, fell shoes or spikes.
This is the 5th Fixture of the season and doubles as a challenge event between the Midlands Police League. The Derbyshire hosts provide us with excellent, fast course around parkland, a riverside path and some woodland. Excellent changing facilities and good post race food make this festive fixture one not to miss!
Facilities
There are excellent changing facilities in modern changing
rooms with good shower and ample car parking with 20 meters of start and
finish.
This is a municipal park and is used by dog walkers and
horse riders, so please exercise care.
Post Race Meal
Refreshments in the form of a hot buffet will be held at
'The Olde House' pub about ½ mile from the venue .
Directions
Travel on the M1 to junction 29, and then take the A617
for 6 miles to traffic lights. Take 3rd exit towards town centre and travel
up to next roundabout. Take 2nd exit onto Lordsmill Street heading past the
Crooked Spire (Bent Church) on B6543. As you approach large open car park,
travel round it heading for the B6051, Newbold Road. Stay on this road for
about 1½ miles. Once past St Mary’s Roman Catholic School, Watermeadows
Lane is 5th turning on the left. Drive down to the Pavilion where you will
find ample parking.
