Final Marathon Briefing Details
To all police competitors - Thank you for your entry into the 2008 Police Sport UK Marathon Championships in Edinburgh on Sunday 25 May 2008.
By now you should have received an email confirmation of your entry from the race organisers. We have 99 entries into the Police Sport UK event representing 29 UK police forces.
Confirmation Letter
If you have not received a confirmation letter then you can download one off the Edinburgh Marathon Website. www.edinburgh-marathon.com Some forces have entered all their runners under one email. If this is the case, ensure you distribute the confirmation letter to each member of your team as they have not been posted by Royal Mail.
Police Entries
The police entries have now been allocated race numbers 1000 to 1099. This will make it easier for us to identify police entrants at the finish. Details of all police competitors, start numbers as well as other event information can be found on the PSUK Athletics website at: www.policesport.org
Registration
You must follow the instructions provided by the marathon organisers as regards registration and collection of race numbers. However, if you cannot collect your race number in person there is an option for you to ask another team member, friend or relative to do this for you. Details can be found on the Edinburgh Marathon website at: www.edinburgh-marathon.com
PSUK Help Point
I will be based at the Premier Travel Inn, Inveresk on Saturday evening between 6pm and 10pm to assist with and queries concerning the event. You may also ring me on 07974 795466 with any queries.
Getting to the Start and from the Finish
As the majority of police competitors are staying in a variety of places in and around the City, transport to and from the start/finish is not provided. It is up to everyone to make their own arrangements. Full details of transport options can be found on the Edinburgh Marathon website. I will however, personally liaise with those 10 or 15 runners staying at the Premier Inn, Inveresk to arrange car share to the start.
Team Colours
Police Sport UK competitors must run in their official team vests.
Police Sport UK Presentation and Buffet
This will take place at around 2.30pm at the Craig House Restaurant, Premier Travel Inn, Carberry Road, Inveresk. This is just over a mile from the marathon finish at Musselburgh Stadium. (Runnable for those with fuel left in the tank!) A map giving directions is displayed here.
Post Race Shower/Changing
Again, it is up to everyone to make their own arrangements. I understand there are facilities to shower at Musselburgh Stadium. However, for those who are not staying another night I have set aside a small number of rooms at the hotel that our PSUK runners can use to shower and change after the race and prior to the presentation.
