Event Rules - 2009
1. The rules shall apply to all events held annually for the Police Sport UK Indoor Sports ‘Superstars’ Championships in the following 10 disciplines over two days:
(a) Bleep Test
(b) Golf
(c) 100m Sprint
(d) Basketball
(e) Climbing Wall
(f) Indoor Rowing
(g) Curling
(h) Gym Test
(i) Archery
(j) 5k Orienteering
Each discipline is subject to review by the PSUK Organising Committee and subject to change annually.
2. Each discipline will have it’s own set of rules as set by the PSUK Organising Committee lead or deputy.
3. Police forces are permitted to enter the following number of competitors for the annual championships.
Strengths under 7,000: One female and one male
Strengths over 7,000: Two female and two male
Metropolitan Police: Four female and four male.
The previous years winners and runners up will receive automatic selection in addition to their force entries.
The previous year’s winners in the 38 and over age category receive automatic selection in addition to their force entries
Forces may apply to the committee to enter additional competitors once the entry deadline has passed. This will be subject to spare places being available in the competition and at the discretion of the committee.
4. Each individual force sports and social club is responsible for ensuring they have a selection process to nominate their force competitors in line with its force strength entry criteria.
5. Scoring for each discipline will run separately for female and male competitors. The maximum score per discipline will be 100 points - with 99 points for 2nd and so on…. Failure to take part in a discipline will give the competitor zero points for that discipline.
6. The winner of the championship will be the male and female with the highest total points added together after the 10 disciplines.
7. In the event of a points tiebreak for the winner or runners there will be a count back on individual positions in each event. The higher placed competitor over the events will be the winner. In the unlikely event of there still being a tie the competitor’s age will be added to the score to determine the overall position. The older competitor will have the advantage and take the winning position.
8. The winning male and female competitor in the 38 and over age category will receive a ‘Masters award’. (Count back rules at 7 will apply in the event of a tie) Masters will also qualify for automatic selection for the following year.
9. All competitors are reminded of the ‘Code of Conduct’ expected at these Championships. The Tournament official referees will deal with any violation of rules in consultation with the section committee lead or deputy who will makes the final decision.
10. Poor Conduct outside of competition will be referred immediately to the committee section lead or deputy to be discussed with the PSUK Organising Committee for agreed action.
11. The Championship lead official or deputy has the delegated authority of the National Committee and in this regard may alter the format of the competition without notice should the change have overall benefit to the running of the championships.
